The Sherpa IPhone Library, compliments of
Want a complete library of coaching tips and reference material on your phone? Larry Clements, CSC, Vice President at Orr Corporation in Louisville, has made it possible for you to do just that. It’s like having “The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching” available any time. Getting ready for a client meeting? Just want to sharpen your coaching skills when you have a few minutes to spare? This is how to do it.
2011 Trailblazer of the Year, Larry ClementsYou will need an ‘app’ on your Iphone and a free Google Docs account. You’ll end up with a free Sherpa Coaching library, and you’ll be able to put documents from your computer right on your phone, too. If this starts to seem 'too tech' for you, enlist a friend, and make this happen. It's worth the effort.
On your IPhone, go to the apps store and purchase NoteMaster from Kabuki Vision. ($3.99) More information is available at http://www.kabukivision.com/
NoteMaster, at setup, will ask you for a Google Docs account (email and password). This Google Docs account will be synchronized with your phone.
If you don’t have one already, set up a free Google Docs account to hold your library and synchronize with your phone. If you have a Gmail address, use it for Google Docs. Do this at docs.google.com
Now, it’s time to get your Sherpa library. You’ll sign in to our library first, to get a copy transferred to your phone. Then you’ll sign in to your own Google Docs account to create a private library.
STEP 1: In NoteMaster, on your Iphone, sign in to the existing Sherpa Library. Use email address sherpacoaching@gmail.com, password sherpa11. If this does not work, please call (513) 232-0002 to request the current password. For security purposes, only access this account from your NoteMaster application. To transfer your copy of the library into NoteMaster, request a ‘remote to local’ sync.
STEP 2: In NoteMaster’s settings, change the email address and password to correspond to your own Google Docs account. Request a full sync, so the new Sherpa library on your phone gets saved to the web, and any documents you may have on the web will be transferred to your phone.
You’ll get a message on your phone that says: NoteMaster has created a folder called ‘NoteMaster Sync’ in Google Docs, where it will sync all your notes. To import existing Google Docs into NoteMaster, move them in to the sync folder.
In addition, there’s a category in NoteMaster called Client Notes. Here, you can add engagement notes as you meet with clients. Read the document called ‘client notes naming conventions’ for tips on saving your notes.
On your phone, look at documents by category. If you look at “All Notes”, the list is long. Sometimes documents from different categories have the same name, making the list harder to browse through.
